Glimpse

Here is a Glimpse from next week’s schedule:

Make Money Monday:  From Employer to Employee.  I will look at why some are choosing to reenter the workplace after years of entrepreneurship or pursuing alternative income sources.  I encountered individuals that have done this or are thinking of doing this and it comes as kind of a blow to my own psyche.

Techy Tuesday:  Home Office Series: I will continue the discussion on finding the right Internet service for your home office.  I will discuss appropriate speeds and whether you should purchase separate Internet plans for your residence and your home office.

Wedded Bliss Wednesday: Handling Disagreements in a Long Distance Relationship.  When your spouse is not with you, disagreements can be very delicate.  There are ways to soften the blow and still communicate your feelings.

Tough Life Thursday: Discontinued Until Further Notice

LITE FARE FRIDAYS is anything thing that I feel like discussing on that day.  I will try to keep it light just in time for the weekend! .  If you like what you see here, please use the orange icon at the top right to receive updates by email or RSS reader.

Lite Fare: Glimpse and Modified Schedule for Aspire to Grace

GLIMPSE

Make Money Monday:  TBD

Techy Tuesday: Building a Blog Series: Is it Time for Paid Hosting, pt. 2: I will continue my discussion of whether now is the time for me to switch over to paid hosting.

Wedded Bliss Wednesday: TBD

Tough Life Thursday: Discontinued Until Further Notice

MODIFIED SCHEDULE FOR ASPIRE TO GRACE

You may already know that I will be moving to Mississippi in July.  I can feel the crunch on time and have many things to do to get ready for the move. Those things include preparing our house for the rental market and finding a home in Mississippi.  In the meantime, I will continue working full time and am party- planning for at least one and maybe two parties at my house.  I am also continuing to provide updates to Aspire to Grace.  I am going stir crazy right now as you can imagine.

In the interest of sparing additional time to accommodate my schedule, I have decided to discontinue Tough Life Thursdays until further notice.  This will give me an extra day to concentrate on my other obligations.  After looking at my stats and considering the subject matter for Thursdays, which is pretty random at the moment, I realized that removing this day will have the least impact on Aspire to Grace.

So, until further notice, you will still find my regular updates for Make Money Mondays, Techy Tuesdays, Wedded Bliss Wednesdays and Lite Fare Fridays. But, on Thursdays, you will not see an update.  On Thursdays, you will continue to see the post from Wednesday.  On Friday, you will get the usual Glimpse and Roundups.

Please bear with me for these next couple of months.  When I emerge from this schedule, hopefully sometime in July, I plan to rethink the entire schedule and may make additional modifications.  But, at any rate, I hope, at that time, to get back to posting everyday.

LITE FARE FRIDAYS is anything thing that I feel like discussing on that day.  I will try to keep it light just in time for the weekend! .  If you like what you see here, please use the orange icon at the top right to receive updates by email or RSS reader.

Lite Fare: Glimpse and Roundup

GLIMPSE

Make Money Monday:  From Auto Commuting to Telecommuting – As I prepare to make the transition from reporting to an office everyday to telecommuting from a home office everyday, I will discuss some of the changes that I will need to make in the way I do my job.  When telecommuting, it is important to maintain a strong and permeating presence with employers and with your clients.

Techy Tuesday: Building A Blog Series: Is it time for me to start paying for a hosting service?  I want to look at this question a little closer and decide whether now’s the time to go at it alone. I will examine the question of when is the right time to leave the safety of free host services and host your own website.

Wedded Bliss Wednesday: TBD

Tough Life Thursday: TBD

ROUND UP

  • Every once in a while, it is good to have a reminder to Stop Reading, Start Doing.  Here, Kevin Muldoon from Time to Tweet reminds us not to spend all of our time reading other people’s blogs at the expense of updating our own.  Scheduling is key and although reading others’ blogs may help us with our own writing, he suggests not spending more than 25% of your allotted blogging time reading other blogs.

Lite Fare: Glimpse, Roundup

GLIMPSE

Make Money Monday: Rental Property Conversion Series: Later today, I am meeting with our real estate property manager.  She will do a walk-through of our house and tell me what will need to be done prior to listing the house.

I haven’t determined the schedule for the remainder of next week, but I’ll figure it out sometime this weekend so stay tuned.

ROUND UP

I didn’t do a whole lot of reading this week, but here is one thing interesting thing I found this week online:

iPhone App Review: Shazam Helps You Name That Tune – Late, I know, but I just discovered this application a few weeks back because someone in the group had it on his iPhone.  Shazam has only added to my iPhone envy.

ROUND UP

A Blogger’s Checklist for Guest Posting On Other Blogs: David Risley provides an insightful list of guidelines for writing guest posts on others’ blogs.  This reading was timely for me since I have decided to expand my marketing efforts.  Over the next few weeks, I will be writing posts for submission to other blogs.  If I am published, it will increase exposure for Aspire to Grace.

Top 3 Suggestions For Driving Traffic To Your Blog: Here, David Risley advises on increasing traffic to your blog.  Another timely reading in light of Aspire to Grace’s plateau in recent days.  I will be following these suggestions over the next month to determine the strongest methods for increasing traffic to Aspire to Grace.

Five clues that you are addicted to Facebook: On CNN, Elizabeth Cohen fills us in on how to tell if you are addicted to social networking websites such as Facebook.  One example in the story is a woman who could not help her daughter do homework because she is always on Facebook!  Wtf? Has it really gotten this bad?  While I’m thankful that I can not access Facebook at work for fear of losing some productivity, I can’t imagine having a full on addiction… there’s only so many times you can update the page to get new information.  It does get old rather fast.

MOST POPULAR ASPIRE TO GRACE POSTS:

I invite you to check out some things you may have missed on previous visits.  The following are links to the top 5 most popular articles here on Aspire to Grace, in order of rank:

Glimpse and a Plateau

Glimpse

Make Money Monday: Rental Property Conversion Series: On Monday, I will post about Staging Your Property for Show.  Once you are ready to convert a primary residence to a rental property, there are some steps that should be taken to prepare the property for show to prospective renters.  I will walk through some of the steps that I am taking, as well as other steps that may be necessary.

Stay tuned for the full upcoming schedule for Aspire to Grace next week.  In the meantime, please let me know if you would like to have a forum on topics of interest to you in money, technology, relationships or self-development.  Please share your ideas in the comments section or, send me an email at suprieta@gmail.com.

A Plateau

I feel like I have reached a plateau with Aspire to Grace that calls for further action.  The number of unique readers everyday is hovering around the same number.  While I appreciate all of the support that I have been given, I have also envisioned Aspire to Grace reaching a much wider audience.  So, I have decided to try some additional marketing efforts.

Right now, I get most of my traffic from Mixx and Google searches.  I feel comfortable promoting my site at Mixx and have gotten good responses from the links that I post there.  But, there are so many sites that are untapped for me like StumbleUpon and Xomba where I could do some additional writing and invite greater coverage for Aspire to Grace.

I am also interested in attracting additional subscribers.  These days I am only attracting unique visitor traffic, which consists of visitors that come and go, oftentimes never to return.  I’d like to build a more loyal following through subscribership.

So next week, in addition to my posts on the scheduled topics, I will need to find more time to do some additional marketing.  I will post about the marketing steps I take, as well as the results.  I hope to learn more about the benefits of these additional marketing methods and I hope to shed light on this process for the blog writers that will read my post.

In addition to Mixx, I currently take the opportunity to comment on others’ blogs, when I have something meaningful to say, and have received referral traffic from those blogs.  But, again, I have reached a plateau of daily traffic in recent weeks and hope that by changing and increasing my marketing behavior, I can attract more traffic to Aspire to Grace.

If you are experiencing a similar plateau on your blog, please share your ideas and reflections in the comments section.

Glimpse and Round-Up

Glimpse

Make Money Monday: Rental Property Conversion Series: Next week, I continue the series with pt. 2 to Setting the Appropriate Rent.  In pt. 1 this week, I encouraged you to consider your mortgage obligation before setting the appropriate rent.  In pt. 2, I urge you make two additional considerations: (1) your expenses as owner and landlord of your property; and (2) comparable rents in your area.

In addition, stay tuned for the other topics of discussion for next week.  In the meantime, please let me know if you would like to have a forum on topics of interest to you in technology, relationships or self-development.  Please share your ideas in the comments section or, send me an email at suprieta@gmail.com.

Round-Up

Here are links to some interesting items this week:

How to Publish an E-book Series – In this post, part 9 of his series, Pat at Smart Passive Income Blog provides links to all eight of his previous posts in the series.  The series provides very comprehensive information on publishing an e-book.

Island DIY: Kauai residents don’t wait for state to repair road – A rather inspiring story about residents of a Hawaiian island that took their destinies into their own hands by providing the resources to repair a road that was out of commission.  They didn’t wait for the state to come to the rescue.  It took eight days and will save a number of businesses.

Is Your Netflix Queue Ruining Your Marriage? – Heather over at Marriage Diva, citing Netflix Queues Destroying Happy Couples Across the US of A by Hortense at Jezebel, reminds us that there is an art to being the “Keeper of the Queue” for couples using Netflix.  Some of us have a lot to learn… Ehem, hubby?
